Week 7 (23/05/2016)

This week we have been creating our own inventions. We came up with some really good ideas, such as a hairdressing machine and a homework machine. We think these inventions might come in very handy! Later in the week we began to look at some of the features of persuasive writing. We wrote letters to an inventor to try and convince him that our invention was the best one to build.

In maths we have been learning how to multiply 2 single digit numbers. We know that the multiplication sign means ‘lots of’. We also know that we can work out the answers to multiplication calculations by using repeated addition. We used lots of different practical equipment to help us work out the answers.

In art we looked at some ‘inventions’ in nature. We looked at the symmetry of butterfly wings. We completed some butterflies by looking really carefully at half a wing and copying the pattern onto another. Then we created our own symmetrical butterflies.

In P.E we have continued to look at throwing. We practised throwing overarm, ready for some of the Sports Day events.

TASK:  Choose a task from the take away homework menu. This will be changing after half-term, when our topic changes to ‘I’m the king of the castle’. Thank you again for the fantastic homework that has been coming in. We really appreciate the time and effort that has been going into it.
