Year 3 Geographers went to Wallingford first thing on Monday morning. We spotted geographical features during our walk e.g. roads, the River Thames and the Wallingford Bridge. Once in the centre of Wallingford, a group of us spoke with local people to find out what the purpose of their visit was for. Other groups looked at the different usage of the buildings and traffic passing and entering Wallingford. The children made us feel very proud, they displayed maturity and showed lovely manners when talking to members of the general public. We were complimented by a number of passers-by on how well the children represented the school.
The children have been looking at what makes a good headline in anticipation of writing their newspaper article based on our book ‘Journey’.
In maths we have started to look at mental addition and subtraction. We are practicing adding 3 digit numbers to ones, tens and hundreds initially using number lines and jottings to help us but working towards doing these calculations in our head. Once the children become more confident with this we aim to move onto column addition and subtraction. Alongside this we are continuing to work on our number bonds and times tables as well as some problem solving activities.
In Science we looked at if people have stronger muscles because they use them more. We conducted an experiment to see how many star jumps we could do and linked that to how many sports clubs we do after school. We are working on our findings …
We planted bulbs for Christmas on Friday.
