Week 6 (08/02/2016)

This week we have been writing our own endings to ‘The Three Little Pigs’. Do you know what happened to the wolf after he ran away from the brick house? Ask us to tell you. We had some very interesting and creative ideas! We wrote the next part of the story as though we were the wolf, so we had to think very carefully about using words like ‘I’, ‘my’ and ‘me’, instead of ‘he’. We have also been looking at the different elements of sentences. Ask us to tell you about the ‘subject’, ‘verb’ and ‘object’.

In Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes and their properties. We know that 3D shapes have faces, edges and vertices, and that some faces are flat whilst others are curved. We can describe 3D shapes using their properties and can identify different 3D shapes by listening to clues about them. We have made our own 3D shapes using nets and we have begun to carefully count the edges and corners.

TASK: Our next topic is ‘Roars, claws and animals galore.’ To start the topic we will be looking at dinosaurs. For your homework over the half-term we would like you to write about what you already know about dinosaurs, and what you would like to find out. (Please see the homework sheet attached to the blog) We will be using this information in our first topic lesson on Monday 22nd February.

We hope you all have a lovely and relaxing half-term
