Week 6 (06/07/2015)

What a busy week! Class Three along with some year 4’s, 5’s and 6’s performed in the violin concert on Monday. The final song in particular was very impressive to listen to and watch being performed.. The violin concert was mentioned on the dates for the diary letter and in a newsletter but a quick apology for any parents who didn’t seem to get the message.

All of the classes had their final hand up day on Wednesday with their new teacher for next year. The third and final session was a whole morning with the new teacher which really allowed children to get to know them.

It has been Science and Maths week this week so Class Three have done lots of mini science activities throughout the week and some practical Maths. On Thursday we even made some artwork using times table sums (inspired by Paul Klee). The children had to choose a sum they often got wrong or struggled to remember. The sum was repeated 7 times on squared paper, each repeated sum staggered below the one above. This created an arrow head shape. The children then had to ignore the numbers and just focus on the shapes and patterns they had made, colouring in and decorating all of the empty space. The finished work was really quite striking.

Finally, we had our fantastic trip to the Harcourt Arboretum today. The weather was beautiful and we all had a fantastic day. It was the perfect end to our busy but exciting week.
Check out the photos from our trip below.
