We started off this week with a day at Dorchester Abbey. Firstly, we thought about what we wanted to learn about the Abbey and then we went for a walk to the allotments in Dorchester. From the allotments, we could see where the Roman town was and we learnt about the patch of land that archaeologists dig most years looking for Roman artefacts. Then we returned to the Abbey, we learnt about the history of the Abbey and we thought about what it would have been like to visit the Abbey as different people in the 14th Century. We really liked dressing up as different people in history. Finally, we had chance to ask more questions and we did some careful sketching or brass rubbings around the Abbey. Many thanks to the parents who helped with transport on the day.
This week in English, we have been finishing off our work on Information texts. We used all of the research that we had completed to write and edit a page about Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
In Maths this week, we have been recapping work on subtraction and fractions.
In DT this week, we worked on our structures and thought carefully about how to replicate the famous landmark.
