Class Three have had an exciting last week of term and finished lots of quality work. If you haven’t already heard about the sunset paintings you will get a chance to see them shortly. This term Class Three have mastered watercolours and each produced a very eye catching and original painting. These will be sent home in a few weeks but they are too beautiful to not put on display first.
On Tuesday we made some erupting volcanoes using washing up liquid, red food colouring, vinegar and baking soda. The results were spectacular and all the children were amazed as their group’s volcano bubbled away.
In Maths we have recapped time on both analogue and digital clocks. This is a tricky concept and does take lots of practice for some children before it clicks. The best way to do this is in everyday situations. E.g. ‘Dinner will be ready in 10 minutes. Can you work out what time that will be?’
The whole class have worked incredibly hard this week in English. On Monday they all wrote an exciting piece on the solar eclipse. They had to pretend they were in the Stone Age and explain what they thought was happening to the sun. There were lots of brilliant ideas from the sun being eaten by a giant sabre-tooth tiger to God ripping a hole in the sky.
We have also spent a lot of time using the netbooks and polishing typing skills and other computer skills. Each child has produced a multimedia eBook about why darkness came. The finished product looks very professional and I could tell how proud the children were of their work.
Homework over Easter
Mrs Mckay has asked that each child completes a worksheet using German words the class have covered throughout the term.
I have also uploaded a few optional games covering some of the skills we have learnt over the last few weeks in Maths. These are on the children’s accounts at www.activelearn.com.
