The absolute highlight of our term has been our trip to The Tower of London.
At last, the day of the Tower had arrived! We set off early on Monday morning, the sun was shining and everyone was very excited.
When we arrived we went to the Cradle tower to have an early lunch.
After a quick wonder around the grounds we were off to The Salt Tower for our educational session. We walked back in time to 1666, we sat in an empty but atmospheric room in the tower and re-enacted the event of the Great Fire of London. We learnt about Samuel Pepys who wrote a diary that recorded some of the events during the fire.
The highlight of the day was our visit to the Jewel House. We gazed in awe at the most amazing and colourful display of Crown Jewels. Because it was not too busy, we were lucky enough to see them not once but twice!
Before heading home we went for a walk on the ramparts and enjoyed looking at Tower Bridge and the River Thames.
Due to the very good behaviour of the children, the day was a pleasure and it was rewarding to hear that the staff at the Tower made a point of saying how good the conduct of the children was from Crowmarsh School.
After a long and busy day, it was great to hear how much the children and parent-helpers had enjoyed themselves.
