Week 5 (23/03/2015)

This week has been challenging but fun for all of us as we have just finished our metaphorical descriptions, which have pushed us so far into our challenge zone that we have almost reached our danger zone. We were all extremely proud with our end results after going through processes such as skinning, a new technique we’ve learnt which takes away some of the articles from our sentences to make them sound more poetic. We also used polishing and finally typing up on the computer to give it a professional design and layout. Overall our final results have been one of our best pieces of work we have written in Year Six.

We have moved on from our fascinating topic in science: space, to our new topic: evolution. We have learnt the basis of evolution by watching a short video clip called the ‘tree of life’. The video started off by telling us about how life started as just tiny particles which soon changed into algae and then developed into fish like creatures, the first signs of proper life. These life-forms kept on developing so they became land animals and gradually became human over an extremely long period of time.  As you can see we still have lots more learning yet to come.

This week in maths we have had some practice maths papers to get us ready for SATS, we have also been developing test skills: checking the question again after we have worked it out and making sure that there are NO GOOFY MISTAKES!

We all feel we have worked extra hard this term and deserve a long Easter break. Hope you and your families have a lovely time.
