Week 5 (03/10/2016)

Everyone has been very excited about our topic work this week! We have been learning about the extraordinary and tragic story of the Titanic.

We have watched some very carefully chosen videos, some computer generated, to show what happened to the Titanic when it crashed into the ice burg in 1912. We have been talking about first, second and third class passengers, who they were and where they were situated on-board the ship.  We have been learning the right words to describe the front and back of the ship as well as the correct words for the left and right hand side of the ship ( Bow, stern, port and starboard ). There is so much to learn about the Titanic we will be continuing with this topic next week.

In maths we continue to use cubes to represent numbers, using egg boxes to visualise what the numbers look like. We have been recording our numbers as tens and ones. It is important to write the digits the correct way around. This work is ongoing, talk to your child about counting numbers up to 99, remember to think about how many groups of 10.
