Maths
In maths this week we have taken on the role of the teacher! This involves marking work. If it is correct, we tick it. If it is incorrect we need to explain what they have done wrong and they should do to avoid this mistake in the future. It is really tricky and its easy to get into a muddle with our written explanations.
Grammar and English
We are expanding our sentences and explanations by thinking “So what!” This is a great tool in getting us to put more detail and reasoning in our writing: ‘which means…’, ‘in order to…’, ‘so that…’. The Daughter of the Sea reports are now finished so we have been writing up a self-evaluation and a self-assessment on our work.
In grammar we have been focusing on what extra jobs adverbs do. We can explain how Five rather sad clowns frowned is different from Five clowns rather sadly frowned.
Computers
Our Kodu worlds are getting more detailed and we can now get Kudo to perform tasks. We are editing our e-safety scripts on cyber bullying to sort out who says what and stage direction. We have also been talking about appropriate use of the computers in school and how to stay safe online.
History

WWI letters and diary entries are now very detailed. We have been explaining how difficult it was to live then. What it must have been like to be living in the trenches. We even got to eat a chocolate cake trench.
PSHCE
We have taken the produce from our Harvest Festival to some people in the community after school.
Science
Year 6 went to Townlands Hospital in Henley to do the IMPS course. We each had a dummy to practice CPR on. We know what a defibrillator is and how to use it. The most important person in a First Aid situation is ME! We even had a finger put in plaster and walked into the A&E department. The hospital is very new.
