Dear Parents/Carers,
Last week we watched a clip from Disney’s ‘The Lion King’. We talked about the different animals we could see on the Savanna and described them. The children then used these ideas to create an acrostic poem. This is our poem using the word SAVANNA.
SAVANNA
Snakes Slitter
A Lion eating it’s prey.
Vans and trucks on Safari
Ants crawling under shimmering leaves.
Noisy lions roar.
Nearby a hippo is underwater
A leopard crawling through the bushes is in sight.
Last week in Maths we were learning about subtraction, another word for this is taking away. The children used objects we counted how many we had and then took a given amount away. We then had to count how many were left and show the numeral on a number fan. You can practise this by playing this game http://www.ictgames.com/targettakeaway.html . You could also help by finding a group of objects covering them and then taking some away. How many are left? This is more challenging when you cannot see the objects to count. How could the children work it out? You could share these ideas. http://www.arcademics.com/games/mission/mission.html .
This week the in Maths the children have been talking about money, what we use it for and why it is important and how we use it.
The children have been learning their sharing collective worship and are very much looking forward to sharing their learning with their friends and family. Thank you to all those who came along.
Have a fabulous weekend,
Miss Zimmerman, Mrs Bowden and Mrs Conway.
