This week we have been finding out more about humans and animals. We have been busy sorting animals into different categories. First of all we looked at pictures of lots of different animals. We then had to find a way to group them e.g. animals with 4 legs, animals with fur. After that we looked at how scientists classify animals. We now know that animals are sorted into groups called classes. Some of these classes are mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and insects.
Later in the week we carried out some investigations. We wanted to find out whether the oldest person was the tallest, whether the person with the longest legs could jump the furthest and whether the person with the longest arms could throw the furthest. Ask us to tell you what we found out.
In maths this week we have been making 2 digit numbers using diennes, coins and bead strings. We have also been finding these numbers on a hundred square. Some of us have had a go at adding ones, tens and hundreds to different numbers.
In our art lesson we looked at a mix and match animal book. You could create different animal by changing the head, the body or the tail. We then had a go at creating our own 3 part animals.
