Our dinosaur topic is coming to an end, so this week we have been trying to find the answers to some of the burning questions we listed at the start of the topic. We have found out more about the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, including how the Earth and its climate changed and which dinosaurs and other creatures lived in each period.
This week we had an exciting e-mail from the Natural History Museum which included some pictures of dinosaur eggs in a nest. As a class we decided what should be done with the nest and how the eggs should be taken care of, then wrote our ideas in letters back to the museum.
Our maths work this week has been about measurement. We started by comparing weights using vocabulary such as ‘heavier’, ‘lighter’, ‘heaviest’ and ‘lightest’ and weighing using bucket scales. Then we moved onto comparing, estimating and measuring capacity. Ask us what this means.
In our grammar lesson we discussed all the times that a capital letter should be used in our writing – ask us how many we can remember!
On Friday we began our new Celebrations topic by brainstorming what we already know about celebrations and listing what we’d like to find out.
Please note that our class wedding will take place in church on Wednesday 20th May at 10.30am. Letters have gone out in book bags this week explaining what your child should wear for the big occasion! We are not expecting anyone to go out and buy new clothes so have kept the outfits as simple as possible – if you are having any trouble finding an outfit for your child please let us know.
