Week 4 (05/05/2015)

Dear Parents/ Carers,

On Monday, the children talked about what they did over the bank holiday weekend. They talked about the places they had been and people they had seen.

In Literacy we have been reading the story of ‘monkey Puzzle’ and sharing ideas for our own stories based on ‘Monkey Puzzle’. Next week the children will be creating a story plan using their ideas.

In Numeracy, the children have been introduced to doubling and halving, they have been counting a group of objects and then adding the same number again and halving a group of objects. You can practice this at home using this game http://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button.

In phonics the children have been recapping their phonemes by looking at the grapheme. They have been using these graphemes to write and read words. We have been concentrating on using digraphs, ‘ai’, ‘ee’, or, ‘ar’, ‘oa’, ‘oo’, and ‘ow’. Please continue to practise using these at home, building words, creating passwords on doors, hunting for graphemes and play pairs games.  Please continue to ask your child to daily at home so they can practice applying their skills.

Have a lovey weekend,

Zara Zimmerman
