Week 3 (16/11/2015)

This week we have moved on to reading and writing stories. We have been reading lots of stories that feature dragons such as George and the Dragon. We have been looking at different versions of the same story, focusing on the details and descriptions. We have been planning our stories, thinking of good adjectives to make our descriptions powerful. We have also been looking at a range of connectives ( alternatives to ‘and then’  ) to use in our writing to make it flow logically and be more interesting to read.

We are going to have special books to write our stories in. We will be reading our stories and thinking about how we can improve them and make them better.

It doesn’t matter if we make mistakes because we are going to learn from our mistakes. Even the best authors that we know and like, have made mistakes in their work and improved their stories before they were published.

Homework Task: Make a list of things that you need to include in your work when writing a story. We will write these in the front of our books to remind us what we need to include in our stories.

For example, capital letters, full stops, wow! words etc …
