Another amazing week……thank you to our parents…..

What an exciting and busy week we have had.

This has been anti-bullying week and we have been really focusing on ‘things we should say more often.’  We have been thinking about how we encourage  each other with our words and how the things that sometimes come out of our mouths can be hurtful and lasting.  Some of the phrases that the children have thought of are….”You are awesome!”  “Please,” “Thank You,” “You are being a purple learner,” “You are a great friend.”  Throughout the week the children have been putting up their post-its with their thoughts and they are still coming in.  Maybe you can think of a few more at home…..

We welcomed our MP John Howell into school to return our school flag that the previous year 6 John Howell Raising the Flagchildren designed for the 2015 Parliament Flags competition.  Our school flag was chosen to represent Oxfordshire and flew in Parliament Square as well as at Runnymede.  John Howell raised it on our new flagpole and we now hope to begin the tradition of having our children raise and lower the flag every day.  We will be flying this flag for the next few weeks, so do make sure you come and see it!

Finally, this Saturday, we had many of our parents come into school to help us develop our outdoor space.  We were very fortunate to  be granted the funds to replace our trim trail and gain a ship in our KS1 playground, but we quickly realised that the KS2 children needed something new as well.  Thanks to our committed parents, we now have a fantastic tyre trail for the children to play on.  It will make a wonderful addition to the children’s play.

The work on our raised beds has also begun, thanks again to our parents who gave up their Saturday to help us in school.  These will be completed over the next few weeks so that in Spring the children will be able to begin planting in a proper, dedicated space.

There were many other jobs completed, such as painting and planting and we send a huge thank you to all of the parents who braved the cold and the bitter wind.  We could not do everything without your support!
