Week 3 (13/11/17)

We were very lucky to have a visit this week from local poet, James Carter. He performed some of his own poems for us, then helped Year 1 and 2 compose a poem about animals. Here is the finished poem:

The Wacky World of Amazing Animals

Happy as a hippo,

Scratchy as a cat,

Angry as a rhino,

Flappy as a bat

Busy as a beaver,

Yappy as a dog,

Stripy as tiger,

Hoppy as a frog

Creepy as a panther,

Buzzy as a bee,

How many animals can you see?

In class we then created some of our own versions of the poem, thinking of the best similes we could – we look forward to showing you them at the next open afternoon.

In maths we have been thinking about money, making sure we can identify all the coins and counting amounts of money in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s.  We also compared amounts of money using the <, > and = signs and have been selecting the coins we would need to make a given amount.

Later in the week we finished our Tudor houses and started discussing our Christmas play!

Have a good weekend,
