Week 2 (27/02/17)

In English we have been developing our skills in writing by learning how to use capital letters and full stops when writing sentences. In addition, we have been using capital letters for names of people, places and the days of the week.

In Maths lessons we have been learning the terms subtract, subtraction and minus. They mean to take away. We started learning how to do subtraction by using apparatus and then pictorially, by crossing out some of the pictures.

Have a go at home. Draw some pictures, write a subtraction sentence to go with them and then cross out the pictures to match your sentence.

              5 – 2 = 3

Although we did not get to make pancakes this week, we did use them in our maths lessons to write subtraction sentences. Some of us had a go at flipping pancakes. It was fun.

In ICT we have been devising programs for the Bee-bots and making a road for them to travel on. We are getting better at knowing our left from our right!

In Science we have been learning about our sense of smell. We had lots of mystery pots with different substances in them and had to describe the smell in each pot.

In PE we are beginning to learn cricket skills, how to hold the bat and stop the ball by using our feet.

Have fun practising subtraction!
