In our Inventions work this week, we have focused on fictional inventors and inventions: we described the inventor that might work in the ‘Inventor’s Shed’ (a picture that we looked at), we watched a video clip called ‘The Shirt Machine’ and described it using alliterative sentences and we shared other stories about inventions.
For World Book Week, all teachers swapped classes for an hour on Wednesday to share a book and do an activity. Class 1 children enjoyed reading ‘The Snail and the Whale’ with Mrs Corrigan and writing secret messages on pictures of a whale!
In Maths we have been revising number pairs to 8, 9 and 10, and counting in twos. We will be learning to tell the time next week, so if you get chance at home to practise telling the time at o’clock and half past that would be great.
Next week will be the start of our next topic – ‘Ourselves.’ We will be finding out about the human body and comparing humans to other animals.
TASK: Who can draw a picture of their own wonderful, wacky invention? Make sure you label it and describe what it does. House points will be given out for effort and presentation!
