We are all back on track in school after the half term break.
In English we have been focusing on reading and spelling this week. We have been learning how to read and write the days of the week as we need to know how to do this by the end of year one.
We have also been learning how to read, write and use the common exception words for year one. I hope you have found a laminated copy of these in your child’s book-bag. They are for you to keep at home, practise these at home until you know how to spell them with confidence.
We have been reading a story called A Dog Called Bear. We used this story as inspiration for writing a narrative about a little girl who wants to have a dog of her own. We have been using the common exception words to help us write good sentences with capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
In maths we have been using plastic cubes and the balance to show two equivalent addition sentences.
5+2=7 has the same total as 6+1=7
Just a quick reminder about PE kit. Some children do not have suitable shoes that fit, please can you ask your child if their kit fits them.
And finally, some children were given a small pack of phonics and reading activities, very well done to all those children who completed the activities. Fantastic!
