We started this week with Billy the stick man and his handbag! Ratio, using a crosshair, can be calculated with this visual aid.
As we progressed through more complex problems it became apparent that ‘Billy’ needed 2 handbags!! This was to show the quantity of repetition.
Some of us were working out an algebra pyramid – the product of them being multiplied together must equal 18x2y. (Algebraic symbols and indices not available). Once we had realized there were an infinite or an uncomprehend able finite number of solutions. After this they wrote an explanation explaining why there was no point in solving every possible solution.
English
Using different speech structures, we have been forming a piece of writing to imagine a conversation between some of the characters from Reckless. We could choose which characters to involve and which side of the argument they were on. But throughout the piece we had to also weave in action and story development. This is easy to track as we used highlighters to identify the elements of the text. If we don’t have an evenly balanced colour ratio – we can focus on improving that aspect.
Geography
Stages of the moon / moon phases: fingernail, crescent, quarter, gibbous, new, full are the main phases of the moon’s rotation around Earth. We are going to look further at how the moon moves around the sun.
How violent can the Ring of Fire be? The effects of tectonic shift can be explained by

- Earthquakes
- Land masses change elevation (uplift)
- Tsunami (when a megathrust of plates occurs out at sea disturbing the ocean floor)
- Subduction is not a smooth process.
- Stratovolcanoes and earthquakes formed by same process (subduction)

We have been learning to discover if words are masculine or feminine. As well as a song that helps us to pick them out.
