This week we have been learning all about different castles. We looked at the three main types of castles, discussing how they were the same and how they were different. We found out that castles were originally made from wood but this wasn’t a particularly good choice of material as it could be burnt easily. We have also created a job advert for a cook, cleaner or soldier for our own castle.
In maths we have been learning how to divide a 2 digit number by a single digit numbers. We know that the division sign means ‘shared by’. We were given division word problems to solve and used practical equipment to help us work out the answers.
On Thursday we had a French day. We started the day by answering the register in French. We also listened to the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ in French. We also learnt some French numbers, played Tombola and tasted some French food.
In P.E we have started to look at sprinting in preparation for Sports Day. We looked at the best technique for sprinting, trying out different things with our arms and legs and discussing which methods worked and didn’t work.
TASK: Choose a task from the take away homework menu. You will now have a new castle based take away menu to choose from. Please can homework be handed in on Thursdays for the rest of the term? This is to ensure that it is marked and returned to you by Friday. Whilst we understand that the children will need some support with the homework tasks, please can we ask that you encourage your child to complete these tasks as independently as possible? Many Thanks.
