We were all sad that it was our last day at Youlbury, but finally the weather brought us some glorious sunshine. After breakfast we split into our three groups and headed off to do Abseiling, Jacob’s Ladder and Team Building.
Abseiling
Ruby: At Youlbury, we did abseiling with Callum and Illyana (the instructors).
Jemima: When you’re at the top of the tower, it is scary for people who are scared of heights and also for some people who aren’t!
Lola: At the top of the tower, there was a bar. When you get called forward, you step over the bar and you get clipped onto a rope.
Ruby: After you’re clipped on, you had to lean back and walk down the wall, pushing the rope through the clip.
Jemima: You had to be careful because if you release it too fast, you could fall and hurt yourself.
Lola: After you have completed abseiling, you feel really proud of yourself because it is really high and you have completed an activity at Youlbury!
Jacob’s Ladder
Scarlett: What is Jacob’s ladder? It is a tall ladder that you climb up. The gaps in the ladder get further apart, the higher you climb.

Reuben: The objective of Jacob’s ladder is to climb to the 10th bar. Sounds easy? It’s wobbly!
Zak: I got to the 9th log, Scarlett got to the 6th log, and Reuben got to the 8th log!
Reuben: To get off, you had to lean back and float down. Then you were unclipped from your harness.
Team Building
Isabel: In team building, we had to sort ourselves into shoe sizes, but without speaking!
Ella: When we finished, we waited and had a little chat until the other groups came back.
