Dear Parents/Carers,
This week the children started the week by sharing a recount of their weekend. It has been very exciting weekend for a lot of children, enjoying the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration at the village hall as well as birthday parties of their own. The children used their knowledge of letters and sounds to write their weekend recount. The children talked about what all our writing needs including capital letters, full stops, finger spaces as well as it needing to make sense. You could help at home by sharing writing opportunities with your child and encouraging them to be independent with their learning.
In Maths we have been learning about different ways to make ten, (number bonds to ten). The children talked about what they could use to work out the problem. The children then used their fingers and objects, bean bags, bears and counters to find different ways to make ten.
Last week the children were very interested in symmetry, we looked at symmetry in different flags of the world. On Monday the children went on a symmetry hunt in the outdoor environment they found many different symmetrical patterns including rotation and reflectional symmetry.
Next week is Brazil Olympic week. We had a thought shower about what they children knew about the Olympics.
In preparation for the children moving into year one the children should line up on the playground from Monday 27th June. This will prepare the children for leaving their adult at the line and walking into the building. Thank you for your understanding.
