Week 6 (03/12/18)

We have been very busy this week with rehearsals for the Christmas performance. Thank you to everyone who has brought in their costume. Please can we have all other costumes in school by next Wednesday at the latest – please let me know if you have any problems. Many tickets have already been issued for the performances. Information regarding the children arriving/ being collected from the performances will be given next week.

This week in English, we have continued to explore different types of sentences. We have thought about when short, single clause sentences are a good choice and we have also looked at multi-clause sentences with coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. This week we have also written letters to Chinese students who will be visiting our school in the spring term. Next week, we will be finishing reading ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ and we will be writing diary entries.

In Maths we have continued to explore subtraction. We have been solving column subtraction calculations where numbers need to be exchanged. In our fluency sessions, we have been looking at alternative subtraction methods particularly focusing on finding the difference by counting on.

Well done to everyone who has continued to read regularly.
