Another week has passed and class R continue to build friendships with other children in the class and school. We have started to talk about food and what we can do to keep our bodies healthy. We read the story of ‘Oliver’s vegetables’ and explored the smell and texture of the vegetables. The children have been practising ‘Sing a Song of Harvest’ for the Harvest service at the church. On Tuesday children had their first visit to the library bus. The children all chose one book, these will stay in school and we will share them as a class, in small groups and during book browsing sessions.
Five children cooked apple crumble on Wednesday with a group of volunteer parents, it was very much enjoyed by the children, ‘it was yummy’. Thank you to those parents who supported the children with their cooking, we look forward to more new tastes next week.
Last week we started our recorder sessions. The children listened to a recorder quartet and learnt about beat from ‘Billy Beat’ before learning to play the note B to the beat. The children were introduced to the note A this week and played both alternately to a steady beat. They did a great job, well done class R!
Next week we will be beginning to think about where the food comes from. On a Monday mornings the children have the opportunity to tell a partner and the rest of the class what they did at the weekend. It would help your child if you could have a conversation on Sunday evening or Monday on the way to school to support your child with conversations they can share.
Have a fantastic weekend,
Miss Zimmerman, Mrs Jameson and Mrs Bowden
