Week 2 (10/9/18)

Hello all!

We’ve had a busy first full week back in Year 3.  We’ve been learning about multiples of 4, and counting forwards and backwards in 4s in Maths, and we’ve been learning about what makes a clause on our English learning journey.

In the afternoons, the children have also started learning about our local area, and practiced some multi-skills in PE as well as using the computers.  What a busy week!

Much of this week, and last, has been dedicated to learning new routines, and stepping up into KS2 with a new, improvement attitude to learning.  We have already seen some big changes in the children (mostly in the right direction!) and we look forward to these growing and developing over the year we have together.

I was really pleased to hear that lots of children in class three had read and enjoyed ‘You are awesome’ by Matthew Syed over the holidays, and I have already seen some excellent purple learning as a result! (And I know Mrs. Hodgkinson has too!)

Speaking of which, ‘Coco’ our ‘purple smiley man’ has gone home with Theo this week, as he showed purple learning in English today, making improvements to his work before he was even asked! Well done, Theo!

Coco will be going home with a different person each Friday, hopefully not getting lost, and coming back to school on a Monday! Whoever he spends the weekend with needs to teach him a new skill and then come in on Monday ready to explain what they taught him.  Coco has more information in his box with him.

Our information evening is on Friday 21st September after school, where you’ll be able to grill us with all the questions you have about Class 3, and we, in exchange, will bombard you with information and ideas for how you can help out with your children’s learning at home!

You will also receive a class newsletter, curriculum web and some other bits, but don’t worry if you can’t make it – these will also be available on the website and hopefully a copy will end up in your child’s book bag. (Check the crumpled bits of paper at the bottom!)  In Year 3 (as I’m sure is the case in Year 2) we don’t put anything in the children’s bags for them, so if you think you might be missing something, please pop in/send an email to ask! I shall endeavor to write anything (important) that has gone home during the week, on the blog. Don’t worry – nothing has gone home yet!

Next week: we are looking forward to seeing a play on Monday morning, and will be continuing our learning on 4s, and clauses, amongst other things.

My email is fbar2485@crowmarsh-gifford.oxon.sch.uk

I’m happy for you to email me directly with any questions, home learning etc, but please note that I don’t check my email daily, so if it’s a note about sickness, or who your child is going home with, please direct those to the office.

See you next week!

Mrs. Barlow
