In our topic sessions this week we have been writing Victorian themed stories. We were given the start of a story and it was our job was to continue it. First we planned our stories using storyboards. We then used the drawings on our storyboard to write our stories. The main focus was to try and include as much description as possible. We had to try and use some really good ‘wow’ words to help paint a picture in the reader’s mind. We were also still thinking about starting our sentences in different ways and using conjunctions to join our ideas.
In maths we have continued learning about shape. We have been trying really hard to use the correct vocabulary to describe different 3D shapes. We have been talking about faces, edges and vertices. We have also looked at shape patterns and created patterns of our own using shapes. Can you give us some shape riddles to solve? E.g. ‘I have 6 square faces and 8 vertices. What am I?’
In art we have continued to look at the work of Lowry. This week we had a go at creating our own ‘matchstick’ people. First we looked at Lowry’s painting ‘Coming to the Mill’ and discussed the different poses of the figures.
