English
We’ve been writing poems, in groups, from a point of view based on Kensuke’s Kingdom. And performing them using performance skills like hand gestures and expression. We have shown our poems to the class, taken feedback and improved it and performed it to the teachers. These have been great fun and help us to use oracy.
Grammar
We are looking at prepositional phrases and how to diagram them. When we diagram them, we put the preposition on a slanted line; the noun goes on a straight line; the adjective comes off the straight (noun) line. This helps us to work out what the prepositional phrase is, we can remove it from the sentence and it still makes sense.
Science
We have been testing out different materials to see what makes the best brake pad for a bicycle. We are doing this by testing to see which has the most friction. The more friction, the quicker the bike will slow down. We have been recording our results using a table / chart and we’ve also done methods and hypothesis and conclusion. We have done this by using a ramp made out of books, letting a car go at the top, letting it run across the material, and which ever goes the less distance is the material you should use. We’ve also been using averages to work out which has the most friction because we tested each material a few time and took the average result.
Anything else!
