Over the past few weeks we have been reading fiction books by Eric Carle. This week we have been comparing fiction and non-fiction books. We have been learning about the features of non-fiction books such as the contents and the index. We know that you don’t have to read a non-fiction book from the beginning to the end, you can use the contents to look up things you are interested in and just find that part of the book and read the information.
As it is half term next week it would be a good opportunity to go to the library and borrow some fiction and non-fiction books.
In maths we have been working on our number bonds to 10 and 20, so do try to practice them at home using lots of apparatus like pennies or pencils.
In science we have been learning about our senses, thinking about our sight and sense of taste. We learnt that there are different areas on our tongue that sense sweet, sour, bitter and salty tastes. We tasted jam, lemon, lemon pith and salty crisps.
If the weather is good go out and spot some birds!
I hope everyone has a great half-term break,
Mrs Nixon
