This week, in creative writing, we looked at a picture of a never-ending tunnel and wrote stories about it. Ask us to tell you about the tunnel – where it led, what happened in it and what it was like.
In our other English lessons, we looked at a poem called ‘The Chimney Boy’s Story’. It described the experience of working in a chimney through the eyes of a Victorian chimney sweep. After looking at the style of writing and the poet’s vocabulary choices, we wrote some of our own versions of the poem and some similar poems about other Victorian children’s jobs.
This week’s maths work has been focused on the language of position and direction. We used what we know about fractions to give directions including ¼ turns and ½ turns and practised using the terms clockwise and anti-clockwise. We have also learned about right angles – ask us to explain what they are.
In science, we have continued to study our growing plants and note any changes or developments – it has been excited to see them start to grow!
Friday of this week was Art Day in our class! We spent the day learning about Victorian artist William Morris, looking at his art work and having a go at some of our own; we created repeating patterns and did some mindfulness colouring in the style of his work.
