This week we have been reading The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle. The chameleon is bored and thought his life was not very exciting. Then one day he saw a zoo and thought all the animals were beautiful. The chameleon wishes he could swim like a fish, run like a deer etc. In the end he is fed up because he can’t catch a fly and wishes he could just be himself.
We made up our own version of the story called The Mixed-up Dog and drew our own ‘mixed–up’ creatures.
This book has been the basis for a lot of our learning this week. We have been talking and writing about the things we like about ourselves and things we are good at. We are all different but we all have our good qualities and traits that we should be proud of. It is important to be yourself!
We have watched some videos to find out facts about chameleons. We have used an atlas to find Madagascar where a lot of chameleons live.
In art we have used a range of coloured tissue paper to create our own chameleons that will be used for a display in school.
In maths we have been focused on learning new vocabulary, plus and equals.

In English we have been learning about exclamation marks! If your child has some in their reading book be sure to focus on them.
