This week we have been finding out about London in the past. We watched an animation of London in the 17th century. We used this short video to create some descriptive writing. First we filled in a senses frame, describing what we might have been able to see, smell, hear and touch in London in the past. We then used these ideas to create a description of London in the 17th century.
In maths we have been looking at addition. We have been learning how to use the bar model to represent our addition calculations in a pictorial way.
We can use the bar model to help us work out the total, using apparatus or mental methods.

We can also work out the missing parts

Can you give us some additions to work out using the bar model?
In science we have continued to look at different materials and their properties. We watched a video of materials in action, focusing on why certain materials are used for certain products. We then worked in our groups to look at one particular material. We thought of lots of different things that were made from that material and then considered why it was a good material choice for those objects.
In art we have been busy designing Christmas cards! Please look in our book bags to see our lovely designs. If you would like to purchase any cards please complete the form and return to school.
We were lucky enough to watch a circus show on Monday. We enjoyed seeing Spangles the clown in the morning and, in the afternoon, watching year 3 perform some different circus skills. Ask us to tell you all about it.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
