Last week the children in Class R became more familiar with the story solo. They discussed the illustration that they had created using different media and materials and then used their knowledge of letters and sounds to write speech bubbles about what the characters in the story might be saying.
The children learnt about what a Christingle is and on Friday we all walked to church for our Christingle service.
This week the children have been using their knowledge of letters and sounds to write their weekend news. The children shared their news within family time and then challenged themselves to write a sentence about what they did at the weekend.
In maths this week the children have been learning to predict the number of objects in a group. We encourage the children to think about what they know already about the group before then making an educated prediction about how many are in the group.
You could help at home by asking your child to make a prediction about how many … or how long it will take to… then check by counting.
You could help the children at home with their reading by practising the flashcards. It is more difficult for the children to recognise the digraphs (to letters that make one sound) in a word so please play games and use them as much as you can at home to support them with this.
