Just Because…

Will you get to board our Purple Learning Bus?

My favourite thing is to get children’s work where they have gone home and created a poster or written a poem, not for homework, but just because.

The last two pieces I have received have just lit up my entire day.

The first was from Edward.  He wrote me a list entitled: How to Be the Best you can Be! And it goes like this:

  1. Do your hardest at your work.
  2. Encourage each other
  3. Do the best you can do
  4. Be a Purple Learner
  5. Challenge yourself
  6. Be the best you can be
  7. Do things you don’t think you can do
  8. Push yourself to do hard things
  9. You can’t do it….YET!
  10. Try hard things that are very tricky.
  11. Mistakes make you learn not to make silly mistakes

What a terrific list!  We can all learn from these and I love to see how what we talk about in school is taken in by the pupils.

Another poster I received was from Enya.  She had created a bus just like the one above and wrote the following:

B e the best you can be

E very time you try-if you succeed

C ause when you try you get better

A lways try and be a purple learner

U nder all of us we’re all purple learners

S ee- every time you succeed you’re a better purple learner

E very person is a purple learner!

We all can be Purple Learners – it’s about demonstrating the key skills we talk about: perseverance, resilience, grit, courage, fortitude and bounce-back-ability.  We learn from our mistakes and we continue going on, no matter what.  Remember how powerful the word YET is.

Challenge is what we are all about here at Crowmarsh….ask your children how they were Purple Learners today…
