This week we have been writing our own instructions, based on fairy tales. First of all we thought about some fairy tales from a different point of view. We talked about Little Red Riding Hood from the wolf’s point of view, discussing what he did at various points of the story and why. We then wrote instructions for ‘How to catch a little girl’. Later in the week we wrote instructions based on Hansel and Gretel. We thought about what a witch might need to do in order to trap children! Ask us to tell you about the features of instructions. We should be able to talk about ordered/numbered points and ‘bossy’ verbs, as well as things such as a ‘What you need’ list.
In Maths we have been counting on and back in 10s, 1s and 2s. We have looked at the pattern these multiples make on a hundred square. We should now be able to tell you that a multiple of 5 ends in 0 or 5, a multiple of 2 ends in 0,2,4,6 or 8 and a multiple of 10 ends in 0. When looking at multiples of 2, we have also been identifying even and odd numbers.
In topic we have continued to think about why different materials are used in different situations. As we were rather busy making Christingles last week we had our discussion about the houses of the three little pigs this week, and have planned an investigation to test which of the houses was the strongest and why.
