Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely summer.
We are pleased at how well the children are settling into their new Year 1 routines. This week we have been thinking about travelling around the world with Barnaby Bear! We started by learning the names of the countries that make up the UK, then we read lots of postcards that Barnaby had sent from different countries. On his travels he climbed some of the tallest towers in the world – ask us to tell you where they are! We tried making tall towers using a range of different equipment.
We have also been learning about the hot and cold places of the world and which animals might live there. Ask us where the hot and cold places are. We helped Barnaby decide what to pack in his suitcase when going to a hot or cold country.
Later in the week our focus was on weather – what different weather conditions we know, what symbols are used to indicate different weather and what a weather forecast is. We created our own weather reports and recorded them on microphones.
Next week we start our Under the Sea topic which will run until the end of week 7.
REMINDERS:
- Please could you send all recorders in before Friday of next week.
- Our class curriculum talk will be straight after school next Wednesday (16th Sept).
