Class 6 have been having a great time studying the Victorians. A bonus for that was that we went to the Victorian School Museum on Tuesday And dressed up as Victorian school children, don’t worry we still had lessons, just in 1854.Our tour guide was extremely strict in the classroom. We had to sit up straight with our hands behind our backs. If we spoke or did anything other than breath or blink we would get the cane 3 times, girls would get it on their hands and knuckles but boys would get it on their bottoms! Also we wrote with slate pencils and ink nibs, we used slate boards and rubbers. If we smudged the ink or blotted it we would be sent to the corner and wear the dunce hat. There our classmates would laugh, point and shout poems at us to show us up.
Also on Thursday, we went to the RAF base in Benson. We did several activities including going on the Puma helicopters, and learnt about some of the controls and buttons on this awesome machine. After that we leant about the pros and cons of the weather and when it would be safe to fly a helicopter. We all jumped in a ten man life raft but managed to fit the whole of year six in, although it was a tight squeeze! Soon after, we had our lunch. In the activity after we made a packed meal out of long lasting food that the army would then eat once boiled. Then we went into the gym and completed an obstacle course. This was all organised by the Flying High Initiative and the RAF.
Overall we’ve had a great and entertaining week.
