It was lovely to see lots of faces at the open afternoon. I hope you all enjoyed seeing how hard the children have been working.
In English we have finished our story writing topic and are now looking at information texts. We will be comparing a range of leaflets and other information texts from the homework. By the end of term each child will have created their own Stone Age themed leaflet.
In Maths we have continued to focus on times tables and helpful hints to work out tricky tables we are unsure of. E.g. If you know your two times table you can double the answer to work out the four times table ( 6 x 2 = 12 so 6 x 4 = 24).
Topic work has also been very practical this week as we have been looking at Mesolithic Age homes. During the Mesolithic Era of the Stone Age people were still hunting for their food, however they were now following the migrating herds rather than living permanently in one place. We discussed how there is little evidence of what these homes would have been like as they were not built as a permanent dwelling. In small groups children had a go at making a cone shaped Stone Age hut that will go home at the end of the week.
