The police were in this week talking to the class about firework safety. Important stuff. It’s Easy to forget that messages we take for granted as adults had to be learnt anew as children.
We also visited the Victorian school Room which was excellent as always. Some things just can’t be taught in a classroom and ironically, a Victorian classroom is one of those things. The sounds and smells make history so tangible and the atmosphere that is carried by the school master is very real as they scratch away with their ink dip pens or get scolded for not sitting perfectly straight. The amount of learning that happens in those two hours is worth every penny of the cost and I hope that if you find a moment to talk to your child about the trip you will agree too.
NB: sorry about the blue finger tips. Apparently it washes off very well after about an hour of washing up after meal times! You’re welcome.
We also managed to timetable Mrs Corrigan to come into class and do some extra ICT work to expose the class to another programming tool other than Scratch. I think it went very well and I plan to find some more time to repeat this if at all possible. Now that we have so many lap top computers I’m trying to maximise opportunities for their use.
