Maths
We are doing well with the timed times tables tests in the morning – it really helps if we know our tables. We get 5 minutes to practice before we have to do it against the clock. In maths this week we have been designing our own theme park. We have £500,000 spending limit to fill our parks with major rides, minor ride, café, shop, paths and lakes. But we cannot spend all the money on the exciting things; we also need to think about how much it will cost to run our theme parks for one day. When we have considered all this then we need to think about how much to charge per person to visit the park so we can make a profit.
English
We have been writing a setting to a story using the five senses to help build up a picture and develop a ‘mood’ also using metaphors, simile, personification and dialog. We have been working with a partner to plan and type up on the laptops a different story to what happens to Torak after he gets to the Mountain Spirit. We have to base our story setting around Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and Spooky, Dangerous, Weird, Frightening themes.
In grammar we have been looking at identifying adjectives in a sentence. We can also now plot them when diagramming. To check we have correctly identified an adjective there are 4 questions to help: Whose? What kind? How many? Which one?
DT
In DT we are finishing off making our Viking cam toys. The cams that we are using are called snail, round and egg shapes. There is a display on the wall outside out classroom, in the corridor, with our photos and responses to questions about our projects.
