Maths
We’re doing area and perimeter of irregular (odd) shapes. We have been learning to put a 1cm grid over the shape, then we counted the whole squares, then we counted the partial squares. if it looks obvious that some partial squares will make a whole we count that as 1. We added up the numbers and that gave us the approximate area.
We have also been using all our skills and number knowledge of ‘4’ to work out any number. I can make 17 by: (4×4) + (4/4) = 17 (4×4=16) + (4/4=1) =17

Survival guides to living on a desert island. We’re all working on different aspects of survival such as finding water, lighting a fire, building a shelter, making a weapon, defending you against animals. We are presenting this work in the form of instructions using time connectives and bossy verbs.RE
We are learning about Islam. At the beginning of term we all had to write a question that we wanted to find out and wrote these question down on a post it note. What we did this week was walk around the classroom and see how many of these questions we can now answer. It was almost all of them. One question we didn’t know was Do Muslims have a song to worship Allah because Christians have hymns to worship God?
Art
We made painted bumble bees and Easter egg collages for Mrs Barton’s Easter tree. We also designed our art folder.
Grammar
We have been diagramming coordinating conjunctions; these can appear in the subject, verb or the direct object and are linked together by a FANBOYS

Easter Treat
We had a choice of things to pick from watching a DVD, extra playtime, art and we chose…………. a lesson on genetics. We have been looking at our dominant and recessive genes. Blue eyed people have 2 recessive genes. This is just one of the gene expression traits that we show.
Easter Collective Worship
Our contribution to this celebration service is to perform some poetry. We watched a cartoon explaining the Easter story and took down notes to help us write a group poem to perform.
