What an exciting multi-cultural week!
On Monday, Mrs Barton taught the children in Class 1 all about the American Thanksgiving celebration. They made head bands and she even taught them a bit of line dancing!
On Tuesday we had another visit from Di Pardoe who talked more to the children about being a good purple learner. The children all designed and made a purple learning placemat to keep on their tables and remind them how to be effective learners. Ask us what we have to do to be a good learner.
We also learned about traditional Christian weddings and about wedding traditions around the world before holding our own fantastic class wedding on Wednesday. We had a lovely day of celebrations and were really pleased to see so many parents and family members there – thank you all for coming. Our bride and groom, despite being reluctant to say their vows (!), looked fantastic and played their parts really well. After the church service we had drinks on the lawn, the cutting of the cake (and eating it), a first dance and then plenty of other dancing. The whole class looked fantastic and each had an important part to play. Thank you to all parents for providing outfits for your children and a special thank you to Ms Gorvin (Max’s mum) for making the wonderful cupcakes.
Later in the week we visited each class in the school and the teachers taught us about 8 different countries around the world. Children took their ‘passports’ and travelled with other children from their house groups to participate in all sorts of fun activities. Ask us to tell you all about it!
Next half term our topic will be ‘Who’s the King of the Castle?’ where we learn about castles and many other types of house and home.
