Dear Parents/Carers,
In Literacy we read the Autumn poem ‘Grand Slam’ and went on an Autumnal walk to find interesting object around the school grounds. The children then used their senses to explore the objects and in small groups they used language to describe them. We used our observational skills to look carefully at the objects and draw what we could see looking in particular at colours and shapes. In Maths the children have been learning about repeating pattern. We talked about the ideas they had about pattern and talked about patterns the adults created. The children began to create patterns of their own using objects and colours. You could help at home by using everyday objects to create repeating patterns as well as look for repeating patterns at home and in the outdoor environment. In movement we explored words from the poem ‘Grand Slam’ including sweeping, swerving and sliding.
In phonics we have been learning the sounds (phonemes) ‘g’,’o’,’c’,’k’ and practising blending and segmenting sounds to read and write words. Please remember to share books or flashcards with your child daily as this will help them learn their letters and sounds.
Next week we will start the week by talking about what the children did at the weekend. You can help at home by having a conversation with your child at the end of the day about what they have been doing that day.
