Week 6 (05/10/2015)

In English we have been learning about haiku’s and kennings and we have been thinking about the structure of these poems. Using the ideas in the Firework Maker’s Daughter, we have written and improved our own poems. Next week we will begin to look at persuasive writing.

In Maths we have been looking at column addition and subtraction. We started off revising the expanded method and then moved on to the compact method. Please continue to practise times tables at home.

In History we recapped the three farming seasons that the Ancient Egyptians had and we thought about the importance of the shaduf. Next week we will begin to think more about daily life in Ancient Egypt.

Homework task for this week – The children have a poetry task. This work needs to be handed in by Tuesday 13th October.

Homework diaries will be collected in every week (usually on a Tuesday), house points will be given to children who have read at least 4 times at home and have had their book signed by an adult.
