We have had a busy time this week practicing our Christmas play which is starting to look really good! The children have worked so hard to learn their lines and are singing beautifully – we are very proud of them.
Last week for our topic, Mr Silvester came into class and demonstrated how Stone Age men and women made arrows and spears with wood, flint and tree sap. We also looked at cave art and are going to be making our own cave art pictures this week. We will also be looking this week at the mysteries surrounding Stonehenge.
In maths this week we are using column addition and subtraction skills to answers questions and then checking our answers using estimation skills and an inverse sum. We are also looking at solving missing number problems and word problems involving addition and subtraction. We aim to move onto some multiplication work next week.
We have finished writing our recounts of the trip to the Earth Trust and are now starting to look at instruction writing and will base our final instructions on some of the work Mr Silvester did with us in topic last week, how to make a spear.
In Science we will continue to monitor our seedlings to consider what they need to grow well.
The children did brilliantly in their violin concert this week, we hope those of you who were able to join us enjoyed it as much as we did.
