Crumbs! Are we really half way through the first term already? Are we really starting to talk about Christmas cards? Yep! Over the next couple of days we will be getting into full festive flow and designing Christmas cards which will then be professionally printed and available for you to buy later next term when you too will find yourself thinking about Christmas. This will be a nice break for the children who have been working extremely hard on another high quality piece of description which has seen their use of vocabulary and more complex sentence structures improve tenfold since the last piece. This one really is a stunner and I am extremely proud of what they have achieved.
The mental maths is continuing to improve as we move from experimenting with different addition techniques of whole and decimal numbers into solving problems with missing numbers. Next week we will start looking at 2D shapes and how to classify them so start brushing up if you want to be able to tell the difference between a quadrilateral and a croissant.
We are also lucky enough to have secured the opportunity for a trip to RAF Benson on Thursday October 16th. This is part of the Flying High project which encourages local organisations to work in partnership with schools to help support the curriculum in more imaginative ways. This trip comes highly recommended by several other schools that have taken part so far so I’m really pleased that it is our turn. It’s completely free and fits inside a normal school day although I have some logistics to organise in terms of transport but as soon as I have a proper plan I will let you know the details.
I’ll end this week by saying how proud I am of this class and all they have achieved in such a short time. I can’t wait to see what they are capable of by half term.
