Week 5 (29/06/2015)

Wow…what a scorching week we’ve had! It has almost been too hot to do anything, but Year 1 have still managed to work hard. In maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of place value in 2 digit numbers (some of the children can even tell us what each digit represent in 4 or 5 digit numbers!)

On Tuesday we had a fantastic Sports Day – all the children took part enthusiastically and enjoyed the events despite the soaring temperatures. The adults had lots of fun cooling the children down by throwing jugs of water over them! It was great to see so many parents there cheering the children on.

On Thursday we had a fantastic visit to Wallingford Museum and the castle gardens where the children found out lots of interesting facts about Wallingford castle. Ask us who build the castle.

The children have had two visits to their new class this week and have enjoyed meeting their new teacher, Mrs Nixon. Next week they will spend the whole of Wednesday morning in Year 2.

TASK:  Who can draw a picture/write about what they’ve learned about Wallingford Castle?
