In English this week, we’ve been busy writing stories based on ‘The Tiger Child’. We had to choose our own animal character and think of something they had gone to the ‘human’ village to search for. We tried hard to use really good adjectives to describe our character and setting. We also tried really hard start our sentences in different ways, including using adverbs and prepositions, and to use conjunctions to join our ideas.
In maths we have started to look at different strategies for solving calculations. We have talked about finding the most efficient ways to solve problems. Drawing dots might be a good way to solve 4×3 =, but is it as good a method when solving 25 + 32 =? We’ve looked at partitioning numbers into tens and ones, and counting on or back. We now need to decide which method is the best to use when we answer different calculations.
In science we have begun to think about animals and their habitats. We have started to think really carefully about how different animals are adapted to live in different environments.
In art we have created our own patterns for saris and had a go at drawing henna designs onto paper hands.
