Week 5 (02/02/2015)

Earlier this term we were learning how to write instructions and wrote our own recipes. So when we spotted a recipe for Pea and Raspberry Jelly, in the story of The Princess and the Pea, we just had to make it. It turned into a science lesson on dissolving but everyone loved the jelly and surprising though it might seem, a good number tucked into several servings of Pea and Raspberry jelly!

This week we have been working on adding a suffix to a root word. We have been concentrating on adding est, iest, er and ier. For example, sun, sunny, sunnier, sunniest, big, bigger, biggest etc.

In maths we have been learning about 2 and 3D shapes, telling the time and rounding numbers up or down to the nearest 10.

In our history topic we have been learning more about the Secret Diary of Samuel Pepys. When the fire was burning he buried his most precious things in his garden (ask your child what he buried ).  We thought about our most precious things that we would like to save, wrote them down on a special list and put them in a treasure box.
